Alex Andrus - Senior Patent Counsel

Alex is Senior Patent Counsel at VHPM. Alex has worked as a patent attorney in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical arts since 2002 at Gilead Sciences and Genentech, Inc. Alex has extensive experience in all aspects of patent practice, as well as contracts, transactional matters, business development, strategic counseling; directing foreign associates; litigation support including document discovery and preparing experts and witnesses for deposition; licensing including negotiating terms and conditions; due diligence and opinions for infringement, validity, freedom-to-operate, mergers, acquisitions and licensing; and hiring, managing and mentoring patent professionals and staff. Outside of VHPM, Alex is a baseball umpire, a volunteer usher at the San Francisco Opera and Ballet, and enjoys fishing and hiking.
